Tiny house living has long been considered appropriate for individuals and couples. However, French tiny house company Baluchon is now addressing the needs of small families with their latest construction: The Gaia Tiny House.
Tiny House With A Farm-Style
Gaia is an attractive tiny house with a farm-style design featuring pine and aluminum cladding. It was constructed by the renowned French company Baluchon, known for its tiny house designs. This model is larger than their previous ones, offering two loft bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining area, a spacious bathroom, and storage space.
Currently, this model is situated in Loire-Atlantique. Although the price is not listed on Baluchon’s website, similar high-quality tiny houses typically sell for approximately $95,000-112,000.
The Gaia’s Footprint
Because Gaia was constructed on a 26 ft agricultural trailer, it provides ample space for potential buyers. It measures 11.5 x 15.5ft and offers 388 square feet of usable space, including the mezzanine floors.
Entering the Gaia
The Gaia tiny house features a glass door that serves as the entry point. Upon entering, a small entrance area leads to the kitchen, which includes a dedicated storage unit for coats, shoes, and a mirror.
L-Shaped Kitchen Space
The kitchen undoubtedly takes center stage, continuing the oak theme with a stunning oak countertop and navy blue cabinetry. This L-shaped kitchen provides ample space for essentials within its numerous large niches bordering the bathroom. Homeowners can also benefit from the ventilation provided by the well-positioned window.
Dining Space
It’s uncommon for tiny homes to accommodate more than two people, but Gaia breaks from this convention. The dining table in the kitchen offers ample space for up to four people to dine comfortably.
Rustic & Contemporary Interior
Baluchon prioritizes quality, which is evident in their choice of solid French oak flooring for the Gaia tiny house. This flooring is both easy to maintain and rustic, yet it exudes a beautifully contemporary aesthetic. The same wood has been used to craft numerous furniture pieces throughout the home, complementing the stark white walls.
Living Space
The living area, subtly defined by the mezzanine floor stairs, offers ample space for a convertible sofa and a charming oak coffee table. This area benefits from abundant natural light, thanks to a large door and three generous windows.
Convertible Guest Space
The living space is a comfortable relaxation area and can transform into a makeshift guest area at night. The sofa converts into a comfortable bed for two, providing a practical sleeping option.
Modern Heating Solutions
In addition to the sofa, an extra armchair is available if the seating needs of your family and guests are not fully met. A discreet electric inertia heater is in place to keep this area cozy and warm during the winter months.
Outdoor Landing
Baluchon has carefully considered every detail to optimize space in this tiny home. The living area extends onto a raised outdoor landing, made possible by the innovative pocket window positioned facing the sofa.
Functional Storage
Recognizing the need for increased storage space in a tiny home designed for more occupants, Baluchon incorporated a stunning navy and oak storage unit with multiple cupboards, drawers, and a wardrobe. This unit also includes oak steps that lead to one of the mezzanine floors upstairs. The other mezzanine floor is accessible via the storage unit and floating oak stairs.
Larger Loft Bedroom
The larger of the two loft bedrooms is situated directly above the storage unit in the living area. This room accommodates a double bed and two oak bedside tables. Occupants can enjoy ample standing room, cross ventilation from the two large windows, and an attractive warming feature wall.
Includes a Skylight
The developers at Baluchon sought to optimize light and space in the mezzanine bedrooms, prompting them to install a Velux skylight window. This window is equipped with integrated electric blinds for added convenience.
Bedroom Storage
The main bedroom offers ample storage space, featuring a long two-drawer storage unit at the foot of the bed, which also serves as a partition from the living room below.
Smaller 2nd Bedroom with Large Window
Despite its compact size, this second bedroom has sufficient space for a single bed and a bedside table. The use of light oak materials and a large floor-to-ceiling window creates a sense of spaciousness, making the room feel larger than it actually is.
Bedroom Aesthetics and Safety
The smaller of the two loft bedrooms is designed with a rope balustrade to provide protection while maximizing the available space.
Working Space with Natural Light
The single bedroom features an oak desk for the studious family member and a Velux skylight with an electric blind, allowing for ample natural light to illuminate the space.
Surprisingly Spacious Bathroom
The surprisingly spacious bathroom is accessible through a pocket door adjacent to the kitchen. Featuring oak and navy cabinetry, this bathroom is equipped with everything an individual, couple, or family needs, including a dry toilet with a stainless-steel bucket and shavings compartment, wall shelves, a vanity, and ample storage.
Shower & Luxury Amenities
In addition to toileting and storage essentials, the bathroom features a comfortable 55 x 31 inches shower, providing ample space for personal hygiene needs. Furthermore, an electric towel dryer is included, offering added convenience during the year’s colder months.
